shehive meetup: the master's tools

  • Thirsty Scholar 111 East 16th Street Indianapolis, IN, 46202 United States (map)

Last meetup, we read and discussed "Understanding Patriarchy," an essay by bell hooks.

To continue our fruitful conversation over the holiday season, we are reading "The Master's Tools Will Never Dismantle the Master's House," an essay by Audre Lorde in her book Sister Outsider. Download the book Sister Outsider from our website. The essay begins on page 380 of the document, or page 110 of Sister Outsider, the second book of three included in the document.

Meet us at Thirsty Scholar on Wednesday, December 2nd at 7pm to discuss your thoughts on the essay in a safe, gender neutral space. We'll be sitting at the large table by the window. If you are unable to read the essay, still come, as the conversation will be inclusive. Children are welsome, but alcohol is served on the premises and we don't censor conversation. Buy your own refreshments!

If you have questions or concerns or need help accessing a print copy of the essay, email us at You can let us know you're coming on facebook, as well. We'll see you soon!
